The Journey Begins

'Twas the night before our journey... the bike and truck are loaded and ready to go.

Tuesday June 11: Our vacation has begun! Our goal was to make the Twin Falls, Idaho area and stay with some friends. We pulled out of the driveway at 6 am sharp just as planned. How often does that happen!? Talk about a good omen for trouble free travel! 🤣😂

As we started the truck, I noticed one of the brake lights and a running light on the trailer was burnt out. No problem, we'll stop in Grangeville and get a couple bulbs from the parts store. So we set off...

Beautiful June morning just south of Lewiston. The wheat fields are still green and the canola fields are a vibrant yellow.

We arrived in Grangeville about the same time the parts store opened. Long story short, I ended  up replacing the running light and brake light assemblies and purchasing a couple of handy tools I had not thought to bring with us. The parts weren't very expensive but we ended up being delayed in Grangeville for 2 1/2 hours.

It's been said Idaho has three seasons: Winter, almost winter and road construction. We encountered our first construction zone about 20 miles into the trip. Fortunately, it was early in the day and they were just setting the signs up. No problem! This is going to be a breeze!🤣😂

After getting back on the road from our delay in Grangeville, we were looking to make up for some lost time... *SIGH*

Driving along the Salmon River between White Bird and Riggins. The scenery is gorgeous with the mountains, the road construction and that ubiquitous Idaho wildflower, the traffic pilon. Note the biker in front of us. He's riding two up... I'm sure he and his passenger were just as enamored with the scenery as we were.

The rest of our day's journey was uneventful; just long. Rolling up to our destination, a few miles east of Twin Falls, we crossed the Hansen Bridge which spans the Snake River Canyon.

Wednesday June 12: Well, that sums up our first day of travel. As of the posting of this installment, we are getting ready to turn in for the night in Ogden Utah. Not much driving today but plenty of activity. I will share today's adventures soon. Tomorrow and Friday, we are driving across Wyoming, Nebraska and Kansas.

Until next time, blessings and thank you for following us on our journey.
